A Guide to Some of the Best Restaurants in the Coco Beach Area

The Coco Beach area of Playa del Carmen is located in the northern part of the city, and has many great restaurants from which to choose from. For residents and guests of The Elements condominium complex, this makes for a variety of breakfast, lunch and dinner options. So in today’s blog we offer our guide to some of the restaurants in the Coco Beach area, all located on CTM Avenue.
Ojo de Agua
Located on CTM between Cozumel Avenue and 1st Avenue, this place is well known for its huge variety of fruit drinks which, come in a variety of combinations.
Their yogurt milkshakes are made using fruits like papaya, banana, guayaba and pineapple. Their super juices are designed specifically for different states of being, depending on your needs; antioxidants, anti-inflammatory, antidepressant and energizing.
They also have a breakfast menu with a large variety of fresh salads and sandwiches, and a lot of vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free options.
The Pitted Date
This place is a vegan restaurant, café and bakery, located on the same block as Ojo de Agua.
They serve breakfast from 8am to 2pm, with a large selection of gluten-free omlettes. These include their mushroom bomblette (organic quinoa, sautéd mushrooms, arugula, vegan egg), italian bomblette (quinoa, artichoke hearts, black olives, pesto), and spanish omelette (spinach, arugula, tomatoes, avocado).
They also have a bagelwich (a grilled bagel sandwich with chorizo, sautéed veggies and avocado), breakfast burritos, chilaquiles and huevos rancheros.
Lunch is served from 12pm-4pm and includes their classic paninis that are made with seasoned lentil and chick pea patty, soups and salads.

El Zorro Plateado
Located on the corner of CTM and 5th Avenue, this restaurant divides their menu into 3 courses.
1st course items include guacamole, fish ceviche with roasted sauce, wood over roasted Portobello and Caribbean chick pea stuffed chile.
2nd courses include roasted corn taboule, oven roasted regional squash, grilled fish and corn huarache with fish machaca.
3rd course items include wood oven roasted chicken, pork with Yucatan black spice mix and beef sweetbreads.

Branton Burger Grill
The name of this place says it all, a small restaurant dedicated to burgers and hot dogs. Located on the south side of CTM between 5th and 10th Avenue , their hamburgers range from the minimalist Basica (meat and cheese) to more elaborate combinations such as Hawaiian (which includes pineapple), Porteña (with Portobello mushroom), Americana (bacon and BBQ sauce), and Mexicana (bacon and avocado).
Two of their hamburgers are made with with 180 grams of meat, ideal for those with a big appetite. In addition to a selection of hot dogs you can get side dishes such as French fries, jalapeño poppers and onion rings.

Calamar de la 10
Advertising itself as El Rey del Ceviche, this restaurant does indeed serve ceviche, as well as a number of other seafood dishes. It’s located on the north-west corner of CTM and 10th Avenue, it’s menu includes cocktails, aquachiles, and dishes such as lobster tail, shrimp and rib eye steak, and various burritos.
